Wan Who? 《Floating Destiny》

Introduction

Floating Destiny 2.0 is an interactive art installation inspired by the I Ching and accompanied by live performance. In the I Ching, destiny has two sides: people can change it; yet it is also predetermined. Wan Who? continues the merging of the sound of traditional Chinese musical instruments and technology from version 1.0. In the previous version, the performance is based on the essence of "change and destiny". Here, fate and future are the main players. Music is played by Guqin, the sound of Guqin is instantly accepted by sampler, edited by real-time digitalization, returned, and repeated as though they are conversations with sound, science and technology, images, and the interpretation of the theory of fate.

The People Behind Wan Who?

Wan Who? is a crossover art project from Beijing comprising of XiaoXia (guqin), Liang Kailun (sound modeling, electronic music), Mr Asbo (voice, visual design) and Mike Leis (visual art). Their works combine the sound of traditional Chinese instruments, techniques, and the voice of the future with a sense of life. Guqin's voice is deduced and reinterpreted through algorithms, return and machine tone, which is the international modern interpretation of Chinese traditional music.
