Las Vegas - A trio of teenagers acheived a 55.1
mile 802.11 link at the 12th annual Defcon hacker convention. Also at
the convention, a speaker was almost punched after giving a talk on
Civil Disobedience.
The P.A.D. team from Ohio, comprised of
18 and 19 year old teenagers, built their own satellite dish antennas
and blasted a 802.11 signal 55.1 miles. They were the winners of the
2nd Annual Defcon Wi-Fi shootout. More details in the upcoming Defcon
12 article.
A speaker was almost assaulted by someone in
the crowd after giving a speech advocating civil disobedience at the
upcoming Republican National Convention. Defcon security whisked the
speaker away and isolated him from the crowd. More details as they
appear.
